First Slumber Party...

Kaylyn has her first official slumber party tonight at Alyssa's, (her friend from school) house. She has been so excited...it's all I have heard about all week. I think she has had her bag packed since Monday! When I dropped her off, she didn't even tell me bye! Kaylyn says tonight is for girls only, tomorrow they will have a swim party and then all the boys can come! There were about 8 girls there...Alyssa's mom is a brave soul!

"I made this!"

Luke is alway so proud to she me his work he does at daycare. Everyday when I pick him up he says "I made this!" He is getting much better with his coloring and staying in the lines. He has also been learning how to use scissors (not sure if this is a good thing), but anyway, he's learning to cut in a staight line. He always has to tell me the story behind his pictures, like, what it is, what color it is, what shape it is, and so on. As soon as we get home we have to hang it on the refridgerator...let's just say my refridgerator is packed with all of his artwork!
By the way, I chose this picture to post because Luke loves school buses. Right now to ride on a school bus would be a dream come true for him! I have got to find a bus for him to ride on soon!

Welcome Home Maggie!

This past week Maggie decide she would be adventerous and escape the fence. I came home Wednesday afternoon and she was no where to be found. I called and called her, I drove around the entire area several times, I asked the neighbors if they had seen her and she was just not there. I thought of the worst, thinking she was lost in the woods, tangled up in briars, or had gotten bitten by a snake and was dead. I even thought someone may have picked her up when they saw her running around. Let's just say it was a sleepless night. The next morning she still wasn't home. When I got to work I called the humane society to see if maybe someone had taken her there, but she wasn't there either. As a last ditch effort I looked in the lost and found adds, and the first add I saw was for a small female terrior found around the Cordova High School area. This is about a mile from my house, so I called and sure enough it was Maggie. A very kind woman had seen her while taking her kids to school that morning trapped in the middle of a busy highway, trying to get accross, and almost getting hit twice. She said she was wet and muddy and looked so scared. She took her home and cleaned her up and called the newspaper to place the add. Thank Goodness she came along and found her.

Luke Went To The Dentist....

A little bit nervous

He finally opened his mouth

Luke's Goody Bag and Stickers

Luke had his first visit to the dentist this morning. He was a very big boy! He was a bit nervous at first, he didn't want to sit in the dental chair, but he sat in the folding chair in my lap. This was pretty good for my shy little 3 year old boy. He let Dr. White count all of his teeth, but was a little leary of her cleaning his teeth. We will try this next time. All in all, a pretty good first visit!

ER Picnic 2007

Today the ER had our picnic at the Skeen's home on Smith Lake. We had a blast! The kids loved the water, they stayed in it all day and are now officially water logged. Kaylyn espicially loved riding on the inner tube. She rode it about 12 times and with anyone who would ride with her. She got brave and decided she could ride by herself, and would have if her mother would've let her. I didn't think it was such a good idea. Luke was just happy to be there. He was content to ride in the boat all day, though he did get on the inner tube with me one time. They liked it so much, that is just about all of the pictures I have from the picnic. I spent most of my time in the boat because my kids would not get out! I attempted to water ski at one point, I did okay, but it has been about 7 or 8 years since I was on a pair of skis. Needless to say, I didn't last very long! Chris made an attempt at knee boarding. After nearly ripping his leg off he gave it up. There was also a huge slip and slide and a moon walk for the kids. They loved it! They were sound asleep by the time we got home. Kaylyn is already asking when we can go back. There was lots of good food and a good time was had by all. Thank you to the Skeen's for hosting it.

"I Wanna Talk"

Lately, Luke has decided that he loves to talk on the phone. Everytime the phone rings he starts screaming "I wanna talk, I wanna talk." I have started letting him handle all of the telemarketer calls. They love talking to a 3 year old! He keeps talking until they finally give up and hang up on him!

1st Grade = HOMEWORK!

We have almost made it through our first week of first grade. Kaylyn is doing great. One thing she has learned is 1st grade = homework! She is not happy! Every night we work on spelling, math, and reading. She has her first spelling and math test tommorrow. I think she will do fine, she made 100 on her practice test I gave her and she only missed one problem on her math test I gave her. She also has to read an A.R. book 3 times every night. She takes test on them the next day, so far, so good.

Back to Dance...

Tonight we started back to dance. This is Kaylyn's fouth year of dance and her second year of competition dance. The first night is alway hectic. Kaylyn has grown about a foot since the end of last year so we had to be fitted for new shoes, leotards, pants, and jacket (ching, ching, ching!!!) This is something every mom who has a little girl should experience at least once in their life! TOTAL CHAOS! It's okay though, we only have to do it once a year and it is so worth it in the end. Kaylyn has so much fun in dance, she says she "just loves to shake her booty!" She was so excited to see all of her dance buddies tonight. I heard that "excited little girl squeal" abouth 30 times in 15 minutes...something else every mom needs to experience at least once!

Luke and Sam

Luke got to go play with his buddy Sam (Kaitlyn's Brother) while I took the girls to dance. They had a great time. Luke has been asking when he could play with Sam, so when Kaitlyn's mother had to work, I agreed to take the girls to dance if Kaitlyn's dad would watch the boys. He didn't have to get Kaitlyn fitted for shoes and leotards and neither of us had to chase a 3 year old while trying to do this...a win/win situation!

First Day of 1st Grade

I can't believe Kaylyn is now an official first grader! She is growing up so fast. I think she was a little more excited this morning, she has not really been looking forward to going back to school. Her Pop has been teasing her all summer about how hard first grade would be. She was glad to see all of her friends this morning and was happy to see her teacher, she pretty much told me to leave as soon as we got there! I think we are going to have a great year. She is looking forward to learning lots of new things.

Good Luck Josh!

Josh's military leave ended today. He now goes to Virginia for 3 months for more training. He hopes to be assigned to an embasy job from there. If he is not assigned to an embasy job, he will be returning to his base in San Diego and will eventually go back to Iraq. Please pray that he does well with this training and is assigned to an embasy. This is apparently very competitive and they only take a few from each class.
