Pre-Season Tournament - Game 1

Tonight we had Luke's very first T-Ball game in the pre-season tournament. He been so excited all day. When I dropped him off at Nana and Pop's this morning the last thing he said to me was: "Don't forget. Tonight. 7:00. I play ball!" The game ended in a loss tonight for the Blue Devils, 21-14. They just couldn't pull it together tonight, but they all had fun. The tournament is double elimination, so we play again tomorrow night, same time, same place. I took lots of pics, but my camera doesn't like the flourescent lighting, and he was playing center field so they're not that great, but I'm posting them anyway.Luke and his buddy Sam, ready to play ball!
Sam, Luke, and Katie. (I don't know what is up with his goofy face...) Doo-di-doo-di-doo...just sitting out here in center field....

Lookin' at my shoes....Hey! What's goin' on over there??
Guess I'll get ready....
Nope, not coming to me, guess I'll swing my arms....
Now, I'll check out what's going on at the playground.....
Back to the game...
Finally, time to bat! Getting some pointers from Coach Chris

SMACK that ball!! On first base, listening to Coach Jason
On second base, waiting to run. The next batter hit the ball straight to the third basemen, so he got tagged out at third. He played an inning and a half of hard ball tonight and now he's exhausted! Same song, second verse tomorrow night! Stay tuned for more pics....

Getting Ready

Luke's new T-ball uniform finally arrived tonight. He's been waiting on this for the past 3 weeks. He was so excited that he had to try it on tonight as soon as he finished his bath. He has his first game on Monday night in a pre-season tournament. He is soooo ready! Wish us luck! P.S. I don't know what is up with that smile of his....
Why is it that all T-ball jerseys are HUGE?? Oh well, I'm sure one day, many years from now I'll look at this jersey and think it's tiny.

A little Alabama humor....

Okay, so these are pretty old, but I got them (again) in an e-mail and decided to post them....

You Know You're From Alabama When...

1. You have a party or a barbeque whenever Alabama plays Auburn in football.

2. You go to Gulf Shores every summer.

3. You call the Atlanta Braves baseball team "us" like they're actually from Alabama.

4. You would much rather visit Florida than California.

5. You don't "take", you "carry" or "tote"... as in "You want me to carry you down to the 7-11?"

6. A soft drink isn't soda, cola, or pop, it's Coke, no matter what flavor or brand.

7. You call it a "buggy" and not a shopping cart.

8. You've said "fixin' to," "might could," or "usetacould" during the last week.

9. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.

10 .You know the meaning of the phrase "Fobbed again."

11. You can properly pronounce Eufaula, Opelika, Bayou La Batre, and Oneonta.

12. The Talladega 500 is the biggest sporting event of any sort during the entire year.

13. You know exactly what chitlins and mountain oysters are, and you know someone who eats them anyway.

14. You think that people who complain about the humidity in other states are sissies.

15. You aren't surprised to find rental movies, groceries, ammunition and bait all in the same store.

16. You've missed a wedding or a funeral to go to a football game.

17. Asian food is always "CHINESE" regardless of the fact that it may actually be Korean or Japanese or Thai

18. You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Alabama.

**key the crickets**

Future Fashion Designer??

So earlier today we were getting ready to make a trip to Wal-Mart. The kids had been outside playing for the majority of the day, enjoying their Spring Break and were pretty dirty. So after a quick bath Luke said he wanted to pick out his own clothes. This is what he chose to wear....

Way Back WHEN-esday

Ahhhh, you thought I had forgotten about it, didn't you?
Dateline: February, 2005
Luke's Age: 7 1/2 monthes
This day was the first time Luke sat alone. He was so proud of himself and it wasn't but about a week later when he started trying to crawl. You can see from the middle pic that he was already reaching for his toys on day one. It didn't take him long to learn to stretch out into the crawling position, then off he went. The rash on his cheeks is the terrible eczema he had when he was that age. It stayed flared-up as a result of the combination of the gallons of drool that came from his mouth everyday, the pacifier that was glued to his lips, 23 out of 24 hours, and the cold weather. I was so glad to see warm weather so we could finally get his face healed.
BTW, yes, my son is wearing a pink Care Bear's party hat. This day was also the day of Kaylyn's 4th birthday party which was Care Bear themed. Luke slept through the entire party and Kaylyn didn't want him to be left out so she stuck one of the party hats on his head.

Way-Back WHENesday

Dateline: July, 2002
Kaylyn's Age: 17 months
This was Kaylyn's first beach trip to Gulf Shores. She loved the beach, and even at such a young age was a little social butterfly. She was already saying full sentences and would strike up a conversation with anyone who was willing. She had many friends, young and old on the beach that year. This pic has always been one of my favs. I love her little naked, silhouetted booty running down the beach!

Play Ball!!!!

Luke had his very first T-Ball practice this evening. He has been so excited about this all week and it was all I could do to keep him at home this afternoon until it was time for practice. Today, they basically practiced fielding and throwing. I love the look on Luke's face in the middle picture. You can't see the incoming ball, but the look of concentration on his face is priceless! Next week they will be able to get much more practice time in with the time change allowing another hour of daylight. I can't wait for the season to get started, I love to watch 4 and 5 year old T-Ball. They are so funny at this age....running to the wrong bases, playing in the dirt, and they have fun playing the game. At this age, it's not about winning and losing, the kids couldn't care less about the score at the end of the game. I know Luke is going to have a fantastic time this season.

Yes, I'm one of those mom's who dresses her kids in matching outfits....Don't laugh, we all know this can only be done for a short period of time. I enjoyed it while it lasted...

Kaylyn, workin' the camera as usual. She's always been a camera hog

"Knee socks??....Really?! Seriously Mom...I can't BELIEVE you're making me go out in public dressed like this!"

Kaylyn's New Diggs

Kaylyn's room is finally finished! Her new furniture was delivered Friday, between storms and just in time for her to get sick. Oh well, at least she got to be sick in her comfy new bed instead of in Luke's room, where she has been residing since we were painting. Here are a few pics....

This is Kaylyn's favorite thing in her new room. Who knew she would get so excited over a Lava Lamp? I didn't even know she knew what a lava lamp was....

These two are my favs

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!!!

Today Luke's class celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday by having pajama day and eating green eggs and ham. Luke loved the idea of wearing his pajamas to school and wanted to pick out a pair to wear tomorrow. He was disappointed when I told him that he could only wear his pj's to school on special days.

Snow Day!!!!

Tornadoes on Friday, and today we have snow? Gotta love the Alabama weather. Yes, the weather man finally got it right. We woke up this morning to snow falling, it only lasted a few hours at our house, but it was enough to satisfy the kids. This was the scene from my front door at 7:30 this morning. It was just starting to stick.
And this was at 8:00. Snowing REALLY HARD....
At 8:20...

At 8:45.... At 10:00 By 12:00 it was all melted :(

He couldn't wait to get out and play in the snow! When he saw the snow he said "It can't be snowing, it's not Christmas anymore..." Poor child, has only seen snow in Christmas movies...

Ready to slam Mama with a snowball

If you look closely you can see the incoming snowball thrown by his friend Allyssa who lives next door.

Poor baby has been so sick. She has Strep Throat AND Flu. Talk about miserable! Bless her heart...her first REAL snow and she was too sick to play in it. She asked a few times to go out an play, but I told her she could only go out for a few minutes and she needed to wait until there was more accumulation (it was really snowing hard and I thought there would be more). When it stopped snowing, I finally gave in and let her go out with a time limit of 10 minutes, but by the time we got her all bundled up, almost all of the snow had melted! Seriously, we're talking 10 minutes! It's a good thing though, because she didn't argue about coming inside after only about 5 minutes outside...there's no fun playing in the freezing cold mud and she feels pretty rotten.
